For your Tuesday viewing pleasure: the trailer for the documentary Kurt Vonnegut: Unstuck In Time, which will be released by IFC in theaters and video on demand on November 19th—nearly 40 years after filming began.
The documentary follows Vonnegut—celebrated author, power critiquer, gun hater, tattoo inspirer, writing advice-giver, life advice-giver—from 1982 until his death in 2007, and then continues. Robert Weide (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lenny Bruce: Swear to Tell the Truth), writer, producer and co-director of the film, reached out to Vonnegut when he was only 23 to make a documentary about the author’s life; the result was a friendship that lasted several decades. The film spans Vonnegut’s childhood in Indianapolis to his experience as a prisoner of war to his rise to literary stardom to the fans left in the wake of his death, all through the lens of Vonnegut and Weide’s close friendship.
